These are posts from everyone:
The time is quickly approaching.
I ordered 300 Shiitake plugs from Fungi Perfecti last week. They sent me an extra bag of 100, quoting that they over-produced this year and wanted to give them a good home. I was going to offer some of these up anyways, but this just seems all that more meant to be now. So, if anyone wants any, some, all of these, let me know. This was my first time ordering plugs and trying this. Very fun, great idea. I usually burn fallen oak in the fireplace, but this seems like a better idea. Better? or....tastier?
I just found out about this place today. Looks badass. Has anyone heard of it or know of a place like this that is local? The site I got the link from said they were in Atlanta, so I was hoping it was a storefront. But it looks to be in WI and online only. baaaah. Still cool. I've always been interested in getting a water tester kit to see how bad the creek is in my backyard. And to see if I'm actually making a difference.

Enter Nebula, the cloud computing platform from NASA, http://nebula.nasa.gov/. Nebula is a great chance for open source software to register a big success in an important high profile project. The government can benefit from robust solutions to common problems that can be reused for maximum benefit and efficiency.
As the bailout trillions mount, as Goldman Sachs posts huge profits with their men at the spigots of the federal reserve, Obama nominates Robert Hormats, a Goldman vice chairman with ties to Petro_China (Sudanese holdings) to be Undersecretary of State for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs, http://www.openleft.com/diary/14280/goldman-sachs-nominee-bob-hormats-help-fund-sudan-genocide Here's an arguably more reputable source: http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/08/human-rights-groups-question-role-state-department-nominee-played-in-company-active-in-sudan.html How do you feel about this? Anyways, I have to get back to work paying off my student loan debts.
A rant about the cost of scientific journal articles.
Next time though I want to be outside the USA for my vacation.
Waste and abuse are so intrinsic to the American medical condition that calling out an instance so specific would be tantamount to picking out a single needle for removal from the haystack that has been dumped in your living room. But, here I go.
North Georgia has been parched again this Summer. The Spring rainfall was enough to carry us out of our years-long drought but not enough to make for a banner year in Southern Appalachian mycology. We have actually gotten rain for perhaps four out of the last five days. The chances for a decent harvest are good. I will hopefully put a bunch of amazing pictures up when I get back. Update: the trip to the mountain was a lot of fun but mycologically somewhat disappointing. We saw a few big mushrooms that I was unable to identify and will put some cool pictures up. But, of course we were hoping for dozens of pounds of huge chanterelles.
