"It was demonstrated that the H. erinaceus extract concentrate exerted neurotropic action and improved the myelination process in the mature myelinating fibers, did not affect nerve cell growth in vitro, and did not evoke a toxic effect or nerve cell damage."
In vitro evidence suggesting a future treatment for Multiple Sclerosis (well current treatment if you have MS and Hericium erinaceus right now).

Novel nerve growth factor inducing compounds.
VERY SUGGESTIVE preclinical trials indicating that if you are in danger of slipping into Alzheimer's you should really have someone consider making you some Hericium erinaceus tea everyday?
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7390512.html interesting that someone is trying to patent a mixture of nutraceuticals for the treatment of MS that contains Hericium. I think that my poster presentation predates their application though:
"Aqueous extracts of H. erinaceus therefore contain neuroactive compounds that stimulate neurite outgrowth in vitro."
